Taylor Business Institute (TBI) welcomes and educates international students by providing a warm, family-centered environment. The College wants every international student to feel welcomed and safe. These students bring with them their various cultures and rich heritages providing a wonderful atmosphere of diversity at the college. Students and Faculty find themselves in an environment where they learn, teach and work with people from all over the world.

TBI understands that it is never easy attempting to assimilate into the culture, mores, and language of another country. TBI provides its international students with mentors, who can assist them with all the normal questions they may have about their new home. International students may reach out to these mentors who will help them navigate through their initial transition and, help them settle in for a successful educational experience.

Work Authorization

Taylor Business Institute, in all of its associate degree programs, offers its international students the option to enhance the skills they learn in class through paid work experience. There are two kinds of paid work experiences for international students. They are Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Create an appointment

Applicants seeking admission to TBI must set an appointment at the college for a face-to-face interview with the college’s admission staff. Please pick a time and date that best suits you. If you are a minor (not 18 yrs old) please bring in your parent or legal guardian with you for this appointment.

Interviewing Process

In this phase the applicant visits the college and speaks with an International admissions representative, who explains the college’s programs and international student policies. Please answer all questions truthfully and be open about your concerns. If the applicant is interested then he or she declares their intention to enroll into a specific program of study, makes application by completing an enrollment agreement, receives a catalog and disclosure documents, and makes an appointment with the designated school officer to initiate the process of I-20.

Admission

The evaluation and determination of a prospective students’ admission status is a function conducted by the education department in conjunction with International department. Once you have been accepted, you will receive an Acceptance letter, an I-20 and an invite to the Orienation, where you will be briefed on the college’s policies, register for your classes and meet your faculty.

Things To Know First

The Common Application is required for students applying to any or all of TBI’s four degrees and 1 certificate. You’ll be able to choose a program that you are interested in.

Before you continue your career with TBI, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Any student who is not a permanent resident or citizen of the United States and its territories will be considered an international student for purposes of admission.
  • Each applicant must be at least 17 years of age on the first day of classes. Documentation of age may be required
  • International students must provide documentation of education equal to or greater than that of a U.S. high school graduate as evaluated by NACES accredited credential evaluation agency.
  • Applicants with prior post-secondary attendance must present transcripts indicating all previous course work. Students requesting transfer credit for prior post-secondary education must submit official transcripts before credit is awarded.
  • International students are not required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results, but must earn acceptable scores on the TBI’s admissions and placement examinations.
