Students new to Taylor Business Institute begin their educational experience with a student orientation where they are introduced to faculty and staff and provided an overview of the college’s programs, expectations, policies and procedures. Students also explore and discuss attitudes associated with getting the most out of their educational experience.
Please refer to the academic calendar for information regarding upcoming orientations.
Students are advised to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on the day of orientation and check-in in the front lobby on the 5th floor. They will be ushered to the Library for placement testing which may take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Testing is followed by orientation which usually takes up to two (2) hours. Students after completing the orientation are; 1) advised of their admission status and course placement based on scores achieved on the placement tests, 2) registered for their respective classes, 3) provided a student ID badge and 4) registered for a student account.
New Students
All the new students undergo an interview procedure with the Admissions Department and complete all admissions/placement testing (Accuplacer). They also have to arrange transcripts delivered from all colleges from which they wish to transfer credits prior to the beginning of their term. The students seeking financial aid must also complete a financial aid interview and make arrangements for payment with the financial aid office.
Returning Students
All returning students must complete enrollment agreements for the term they are returning to. Academic advising for all returning students is scheduled as appropriate to review satisfactory academic progress. All returning students must also meet financial aid requirements as appropriate. A review of degree audit is conducted for all returning students before their scheduled class start date.
Students who register late for classes have to go through a late registration process as directed by the Education Department.
