Introduction to the basic ecological principles that underlie the interrelationships and interdependence of biotic and abiotic environmental factors. This course is designed to develop environmental and scientific literacy among the students. This course also examines the impact of anthropogenic activities including human population, urbanization, use of fossil fuels and agriculture on ecosystems. An evaluation of possible solutions and courses of action to minimize the negative impact on ecosystems will be made.   Writing and research assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
